WACO, Texas (AP) _ Mike Dillard scored 18 points, one of three Bearkats scorers in double digits as Sam Houston State rallied to spoil Baylor's nonconference opener Friday, 82-79.

Baylor (0-1) lost despite having four players in double figures scoring.

The Bears led 45-33 at the half before the Bears offense went cold. Baylor was 11-of-32 from the field and 10-of-23 from the line during the second half.

That left the door wide open for Sam Houston (1-0). The Bearkats were 13-of 29 from the field and 20-of-26 from the line during the second half.

Frank Mata had 15 points and nine rebounds for the Bearkats, while Quinton McLeod had 11 points.

For Baylor, Brian Skinner and Damond Mannon had 14 points each, John Perkins had 11 and Jeremy Clark had 10. Mannon led with eight rebounds.
