INAGI, Japan (AP) _ David Ishii of the United States, winner of last week’s Casio World Open tournament, shot the day’s best score of 69 and shared the lead Saturday with Japan’s Isao Aoki in the $220,000 Japan Series of Golf.
Ishii, the leading money winner on the Japan PGA tour with $606,000, had four birdies before carding his only bogey on the difficult 221-yard, par-3 18th hole at the Tokyo Yomiuri Country Club, a 7,017-yard, par-72 layout.
Ishii shot a 69 Thursday in the second round at the Osaka Yomiuri Country Club course for a 36-hole total of 138, 7-under-par.
Aoki, winner of three tournaments this season, shot a 71.
Masashi Ozaki and Yoshitaka Yamamoto, both of Japan and Australian Brian Jones shared third spot at 139. Ozaki and Jones each had a 71 and Yamamoto a 69.
