Police notebook for Saturday, Jan. 12, 2019

Information is taken from the records of the Portage Police Department and does not represent a comprehensive list of police activity. Each individual named in this report is presumed to be innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

Between 8:53 a.m. Monday and 7:38 a.m. Friday, the Portage Police Department responded to 121 calls, including the following:

Dunn Street: Police at 8:53 a.m. on Jan. 7 cited Tevin E. Eggros, 23, of Wisconsin Dells for an eighth offense of operating a motor vehicle after suspension. A vehicle was towed by Joe’s Auto & Truck Center.

New Pinery Road: Police at 9:23 a.m. on Jan. 7 referred a 13-year-old boy to Health and Human Services for possession of a dangerous weapon by a person under the age of 18 at Bartels Middle School.

West Slifer Street: Police at 11:13 a.m. on Jan. 7 responded to a report of a rear license plate missing from a vehicle parked in a lot. Police reported the license plate missing or stolen.

West Wisconsin Street: Police at 2:11 p.m. on Jan. 7 responded to three-vehicle accident after a truck struck two parked cars. Police said the driver, Dennis L. Hasenfuss, 75, of Portage, showed signs of impairment and was cited for failure to keep vehicle under control and first offense of operating a motor vehicle while under the influence.

Dunn Street: Police at 5 p.m. on Jan. 7 cited Patrick A. Williams, 35, no fixed address, for violation of probation/parole, possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of a drug without a prescription.

MacFarlane Road and West Burns Street: Police at 3:54 p.m. on Jan. 8 stopped a vehicle with expired registration and conducted a drug search after the odor of marijuana was detected. Police arrested 24-year-old Wisconsin Dells residents Samantha Marie Tonn for a first offense of operating a motor vehicle while intoxicated and Mayce Helen Brown for possession of THC and drug paraphernalia. Police also arrested Jonathan Joshua Osgood, 37, of Portage, for felony bail jumping.

East Collins Street: Police at 8:45 a.m. on Jan. 9 referred a 15-year-old girl Portage High School student to Health and Human Services for disorderly conduct and battery after a fight at Portage High School.

DeWitt Street: Police at 11:33 a.m. on Jan. 9 cited Mia M. Riddle, 20, of Portage, for a third offense of operating after suspension.

New Pinery Road: Police at 12:28 p.m. on Jan. 9 responded to a report of a man creating a disturbance inside a church and arrested Terry Joe Buttke, 37, of Portage, for disorderly conduct and misdemeanor bail jumping.

New Pinery Road: Police at 2:44 p.m. on Jan. 9 referred a 13-year-old Portage boy for disorderly conduct and resistance/obstruction of an officer after an incident at Portage High School and released the male juvenile to a responsible party.

West Collins Street: Police at 5:26 p.m. on Jan. 9 responded to a report of marijuana odors and conducted a search. Police cited Nena R. Marshall, 34, of Portage, for possession of paraphernalia and misdemeanor bail jumping. The paraphernalia was tested positive for marijuana and methamphetamine.

Prospect Avenue: Police at 6:41 on Jan. 10 cited Jerry D. Young, 47, of Portage for misdemeanor bail jumping and violation of a temporary restraining order.
