PARIS (AP) _ Three buses rammed into each other in a pileup on a highway in southern France, killing at least seven people and injuring another nine seriously, police said early Tuesday.

The accident took place on the A7 highway near Savasse, a small town located about 400 miles south of Paris on the country's main north-south axis.

Police said the accident involved three buses and a truck. It appeared that the crash took place when one of the vehicles slowed down. No further details were immediately available.
