Lack of volunteers trims haunted house to single night
NEEDLES — While the community of Needles is well-known for volunteering spirit it appears to have fallen short for the annual Haunted House event.
Needles Chamber of Commerce President Mary Gonzales advises the scary soiree will be trimmed to one evening this year: Saturday, Oct. 27, beginning at 7 p.m. in the Green House at 517 North K St.
Self-guided tours of the basement, music, scary finger foods and soft drinks are attractions. Tickets, $10 each, can be purchased in advance at the chamber offices at Front and G streets or at the event. Costumes are encouraged.
Since the haunting came back to life several years ago after Mayor Ed and Jan Paget acquired the historic manse, it has been a multi-night event. “This is something different,” Gonzales said, “So maybe next year we’ll have more volunteers.”
