No. 9 Virginia 78, Duke 62
CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. (AP) _ Wendy Palmer scored 19 points Tuesday night to lead six players in double figures as No. 9 Virginia beat Duke 78-62 in the Atlantic Coast Conference.
The Blue Devils (12-2, 3-1 ACC) trailed throughout the game and got no closer than 10 points in the second half.
Virginia (11-2, 4-0) led 45-33 at halftime.
Duke had a 40-27 rebounding advantage, but turned the ball over 24 times. Virginia shot 53 percent from the field to the Blue Devils’ 41 percent.
Charleata Beale had 14 points, Monick Foote 12, Amy Lofstedt 11 and Tora Suber 10 for Virginia. Jenny Boucek added 10 points and seven assists, while Palmer grabbed six rebounds.
Kira Orr led Duke with 17 points and six assists. Carey Kauffman added 12 points and seven rebounds and Alison Day had nine rebounds.
