Two Shot to Death in University of Texas-San Antonio Library
SAN ANTONIO (AP) _ Two men were shot to death in the library at the University of Texas at San Antonio in what police said appeared to be a murder-suicide.
The shooting Monday afternoon, on the first day of fall classes, took place in an administration office on the second floor of the John Peace Library Building.
``There was a sign of some struggle in the office,″ university spokesman Bob Burdick said.
One victim was Stephen Sorenson, 54, head of the library’s catalog department and a school employee for four years, Burdick said. The other, Gregory Heath Tidwell, 25, was not affiliated with the university.
Police did not say which man was believed to be the shooter. A snubnose .357-caliber revolver was found near the bodies. People nearby heard the shots but no argument, said campus police Chief Ron Seacrist.
The motive for the shooting was unknown; police would say only that the two men knew each other.
