Gambling for good: Cy-Fair Rotary to host Casino Night fundraiser

March 11, 2019

Cy-Fair residents with a knack for casino games will be able to gamble without breaking the bank, or the law, while helping a local nonprofit raise money for future projects.

Casino Night, hosted by the Rotary Club of Cypress-Fairbanks on March 23, will have several casino games such as blackjack, poker and craps for attendees to play throughout the night. The Rotary Club of Cy-Fair is a nonprofit organization offering grants, donations and community service efforts in the Cy-Fair area, acting as a chapter of the Rotary International.

Austin Bleess, president of the Rotary Club of Cy-Fair, said all proceeds from the event will to go to the organization and their efforts in the community.

“It is the largest fundraiser that he Rotary Club of Cy-Fair does,” Bleess said. “It provides us the funds to do projects throughout the community. We donate money to Shield Bearer, we help out with (Cypress Assistance Ministries.) We’ve helped out a number of homes in the area after Harvey. We’re still helping out families who had homes damaged in Harvey and are still needing the work to be done. A lot of that money, or rather all of it, goes right back into the community.”

Bleess said the club is hoping to sell 300 tickets in its third year of the event. This year, event planners added more games and activities to attract people. Casino Night will have a silent auction and raffle prizes including a private wine class and tasting, golf at Jersey Meadows Golf Course and Houston Rockets merchandise.

Bleess said the event is a great opportunity for the community to connect with each other.

“We’ll be able to help a lot of our organizations,” Bleess said. “It’s a great night of fun. You’ve got everything from blackjack to roulette and all of that in between. It’s really just a great opportunity to have some fun with friends and neighbors and help us support local entities.”

Casino Night will take place March 23, 7 to 11 p.m., at Christ the Redeemer, 11507 Huffmeister Road, Cypress. Tickets are $50 for individuals. Sponsorships, which range from $250 to $2,500, include VIP parking spaces, business promotion ad multiple tickets.
