Police: Man set fire near gas meter at former Milford restaurant

MILFORD - A 63-year-old Milford man is accused of setting a fire outside the former Tilted Kilt Restaurant on Old Gate Lane on Tuesday.

Thomas Macksey was charged with reckless burning and third-degree criminal mischief.

Macksey is accused of placing a cardboard box on the gas meter of the building and lighting it on fire.

Police went to the building the report of a fire around 5:30 p.m.

The fire caused minor exterior damage to the building.

The restaurant has been closed for about three years.

Macksey, who lives on Old Gate Lane, was held on a $3,000 bond.

Police also determined there was also a warrant for his arrest for failure to appear in court on a breach of peace arrest last September.
