Arrest in fatal stabbing inside Phoenix convenience store
PHOENIX (AP) — Police have arrested a man accused of stabbing another man to death inside a north Phoenix convenience store.
Police Sgt. Vince Lewis says the incident happened Tuesday around 3 a.m.
According to Lewis, the suspect approached the 54-year-old victim from behind, stabbed the victim and then fled.
Lewis says a 911 caller reported a location for the suspect and officers found and arrested 37-year-old Ysidro Ramon Reyes.
The victim, meanwhile, was taken to a hospital where he was pronounced dead.
His identity has not been released.
Reyes was booked on suspicion of first-degree murder. It was not known if he had an attorney who could comment on the allegations.
Police did not give a possible motive or say if the two men were acquainted.
The name of the arrested suspect has been corrected to reflect updated information provided by police.
