NEW YORK (AP) _ Stocks that were moving substantially or trading heavily Wednesday on the New York Stock Exchange and Nasdaq Stock Market.


Biovail, up $7.13 at $75.63

The drug company said it is acquiring DJ Pharma in a $162.5 million stock deal.

DuPont, up $1.00 at $45.38

The chemical company’s stock rose Wednesday, the same day that the price of oil, a key material for chemical processing, moved lower.

Guidant, down $11.19 at $57.75

The maker of surgical stents used to treat heart disease said earnings would be below expectations.


Latitude Communications, down $1.81 at $5.19

The maker of voice and data conferencing systems said its earnings would be below expecations because of sales and distribution problems.

Calico Commerce, down $1.63 at $3.56

The software company said the failure to complete some large deals would result in lower than expected earnings.

Computer Horizons, up 78 cents at $4.13

The information technology company’s shares fell after it said it will miss earnings because of soft demand and weak sales. The company also said job cuts are possible.
