Vermont nonprofit works to attract tech companies
SPRINGFIELD, Vt. (AP) — A Vermont business development organization is working to bring tech companies to the Upper Valley.
Springfield Regional Development Corporation Executive Director Bob Flint tells WPTZ-TV the Black River Innovation Campus focuses on turning vacant spaces in downtown Springfield into tech workplaces. The project has raised $1 million in funding.
Flint says Springfield can support a growing tech industry because of its fiber optic cable infrastructure.
Republican Gov. Phil Scott says the state needs initiatives like the Black River Innovation Campus. Scott says the program will “create good-paying jobs.”
Non-tech business owners also believe they will benefit from the campus. Restaurant owner Nick Matush says the initiative will “help kick-start” the community.
