Connecticut State Police step up Christmas Enforcement

MIDDLETOWN - State Police on duty this holiday week have increased patrols through December 26, 2018.

As of noon on Christmas day, state police say they have handed out 486 tickets for speeding, 10 for seat belt violations and 25 for other hazardous violations such as using a cell phone, making an unsafe lane change or following too closely.

In addition, there have been 47 driving under the influence arrests and 410 accident investigations. Of those 46 were with injuries. There were also two fatalities.

The stepped up patrols will continue through midnight on Dec. 26, 2018. Last year, throughout the Christmas Holiday, 465 tickets were handed out for speeding. There were also 28 DUI arrests, 521 accidents. Of those 58 were with injury and one involved a fatality.
