Santa Fe’s Capital High bids farewell to graduates
Capital High School bid farewell to 291 seniors Thursday morning during its 2019 commencement ceremony at Jaguar Stadium.
After seven years at the school, including the last two as principal, Mariah Runyan also said goodbye to Capital High. Associate Principal Jaime Holladay will take over the school’s top job this summer.
“It is amazing to me that only four years ago we all sat in class for the first time as confused high school freshmen,” valedictorian Alfred Ochoa Luna told the class of 2019. “We’ve come a long way since then. Look at us now — sitting on the field as confused high school seniors.”
The Capital High salutatorian was Elizabeth Kay Walker. Business teacher Aaron Girdner was named the school’s Teacher of the Year.
